I prefer poker. I've played both games and it just poker is a lot more fun. Bridge you have to bid. In poker you have to count your outs of hitting your hands versus how much money is in the pot to make that decision. If your looking for other poker resources I've found this great free poker eBook. It's free to download at the link listed below. I hope this helps.

Both are games of skill rather than mere luck (and in fact there have been court rulings to this effect). That said, however, there is an enormous difference between bridge and poker. The latter makes absolutely no sense if not played for money or another thing of value (we'll talk about strip poker some other time), while bridge can be interesting and even instructive with nothing at stake. Because bridge is a partnership game and poker is individual -- woe to those caught "cooperating" in, say, five-card stud! -- it is inherently more complex than poker because of the need for both partners to learn a complicated bidding system. The rules (not the strategy) of poker can be assimilated in ten minutes; not so with bridge. It's true that psychological factors, such as spotting the "tells" of your opponent(s) and knowing how and against whom to bluff, can play a much larger role in poker than in bridge. In both games, knowledge of probabilities is essential, in all likelihood more so in poker. It goes without saying that both bridge and poker require thinking, but there's a good reason you don't see a World Series of Bridge on TV -- there are no huge pots riding on the turn of a card, and the play is simply too intricate for the uninitiated to follow. As you may deduce from all this, I'm a bridge player.

Poker, don't listen to what people say. There are many different kinds of poker. Most popular is Texas Hold Em poker. Ypu have to find the odds of the next card being in your favour and measure that with what is being offerd with the raise.

Poker is a game where the majority of skill revolves around being able to read peoples intentions and due to the fact that there is a large degree of chance involved .
Bridge on the other hand is a game of pure skill. You need to understand the bidding which establishes what sort of spread of suits and picture cards you hold and how many tricks you intend to make, these are announced prior to play and when play starts everybody knows what cards each side has as one of the pair trying to make their target has to lay down face up their hand before play starts.
Much more skill involved there. However poker is much more enjoyable and has a wider appeal being simpler to make hands and the fun in is seeing hwho is the better reader of their opponents.
spectator sport.

Bridge is more thinking and less chance. It is a far more complex game than most types of poker.
