I'm thinking of switching from low speed cable to high speed phone line for half the price.

I've had DSL through my phone company ever since they offered it in my area. I think, it's been about 10 years now. I even upgraded from the 1.5 Mp Dynamic IP service to the 6 Mp with 9 Static IPs service about 2 years ago, because I have 8 computers and had a server based network. I have since changed my configuration to a more simple one, but I still have the same DSL service.

I tried the cable companies Broadband Internet service in parallel 2 years ago, but I didn't like it so I cancelled it after a month and that's when I upgraded my service with the phone company.

I like the DSL with the phone company, because you have the same speed no matter how many people are on the Internet in your neighborhood. Unlike with the Broadband, which suffers a slow down in service at peak times when everybody in the neighborhood is trying to use it.

I think it's worth trying. ATT offers free technical assistance over the phone.
