I am a day away from being 7 weeks pregnant. This is my first pregnancy and I am already showing. I'm showing enough that a lot of my old shirts completely don't fit. Is this normal?

I know it's not cause of eating too much since I have been getting morning sickness real severe and recently have been really sick with a bad cold, so I haven't been eating a lot or have been able to keep anything down. I don't feel constipated and everything in that area feels normal.

Thanks for all the good luck wishes. I wish that I could get that book, I looked about it but I now live overseas, and this country doesn't have any kind of book stores or sell any western books. I have family back in the US so I can probably get one of them to ship it to me. It's the kind of country that only has natural child birth as an option. Main cause of worry.

Some women show early... But usually not that early. I know that people with my son started noticing that i was pregnant aroun10 weeks. I was also underweight when i got pregnant.

I am now 37 weeks 3 days along and I know EXACTLY how you feel because I have been going through the same thing. I had a dating ultrasound at 5 weeks and I've been measuring 2 weeks ahead at every appt. I thought my due date was wrong as well but, I've been assured and REassured that it's not. My OB says it's perfectly fine, I've been to see a dietitian as well so I know I'm eating right. I did gain 60 pounds this pregnancy. The baby appears to be big and I've also been told that there is a lot of amniotic fluid surrounding him. Water retention also plays a role in all of this as well. Try not to worry so much, I'm sure everything is just fine. Congratulations and Good luck!

Chances are the swelling in your tummy isn't "baby" swelling since the baby is so tiny at this point....it's most likely your uterus swelling and enlarging, a side effect of hormones, and believe it or not.....gas. It's a very common question is early pregnancy and most womn are unaware about the causes and assume it's the baby showing early.....Go get a book called " what to expect when you are expecting" by Heidi Murkoff. It's the pregnancy bible and will help with all these questions. Your question as well as many others that you would not expect is in there. It's excellent in describing all of these little things that worry moms and help distinguish when something is "normal" or not.
Good Luck!

OK. I am 8 weeks and thought the same thing a while back. Now I know that my little "bump" was from bowel distention and not from my uterus. Pregnancy starts to slow the breakdown of food, thus causing mild or severe constipation. The "bump" was a back up of waste and due to everything starting to be moved around and swollen, this showed as a pregnant belly. This is most likely what you are experiencing. Especially if you are noticing less or less frequent bowel movements. My doctor said colace was ok to take to increase the speed of my bowel movements and that helped AND made the "bump" go away. I am back to looking pre pregnant. Good Luck!

Usually on first pregnancy you won't show quite this early, even with multiples. The baby is only the size of a pea, so... it could be bloating or constipation. My bloating went away at about 10wks or so and my bump went down too. Congrats!

It's probably just retained fluid. To get rid of fluid, drink more water. :) (Strange, but true.) At this point, your baby is only about the size of a grain of rice, so it's impossible for you to be showing this soon.

from personal experience you really don't show much during the first three months... unless of course you are very thin...also if you wear tighter or shorter t shirts then this can happen more.. I wouldn't say that it is not normal...
