Cuba is as much a threat to the US, as Tahiti is to China. The US is just pi*sed off that when he had the chance Castro didn't rush into the arms of corporate America, and let the raping of Cuba continue as it had under Batista.
The US is playing a very dangerous game with China. The war in Iraq is bankrupting the US economy and the US is carrying on trmendous trade with China & China is pouring those profits right back into Wall Street and buying up significant amounts of the US economy. One of these days you are going to wake up and find Chinese has become your second language. God bless America.

Well, it's not an easy answer.
The U.S. has never really been anti-Communist, although the official political stance was anti-Communist. (The corporate world certainly has not been averse to taking advantage of cheaper production costs in the Soviet Union and China)
China, being a large, powerful nation, is not one to have as an enemy. They have minerals that the U.S. needs; and see how the many global corporations are making a killing, with the manufacturing of (slave-made) cheap goods, there.
Cuba, on the other hand, is a small nation, with many expatriots in the U.S., who strongly resent the presence of F. Castro and their inability to conduct their capitalist business as they please. These expatriots have a certain amount of political clout within the U.S. and they will most likely not be calling for an end to the inhuman embargoes placed against the tiny nation. The U.S. claims to be champions of human rights, but life is getting tougher for the long-enduring people in Cuba.

Since the splitting of the atom, and especially since the Bay of Pigs in '63, America has abandoned its isolationist principles. Successive governments have been in favour of a racist, gratuitous, divisive, colonialist foreign policy.
Under the guise of being 'the world's police', they continually expand their empire. The King of Jordan has insisted that America helps to create terrorism with its divisive foreign policy. He warns against bringing sanctions against Iran, which will push them into a corner.
If they possess nuclear weapons, then it is possible they will take aim at Israel, which the U.S. uses to fund their military-industrial complex. Don't be fooled by Israeli concerns over security and sovereignty, there is more at work there. Sure, they must protect their nations against terrorism, suicide bombers and wars, but the U.S., British policy and the fall of the Ottoman Empire have affected Lebanon and Syria badly. Their governments have been pushed into a corner by the U.S. over aid, trade and human rights. This doesn't justify terrorist acts, but the U.S. helped to create a situation that works against Israel, and does nothing for other Middle Eastern countries.
There are a lot of contracts for the military-industrial complex that Israel hands out. Their military is an extension of the American one, forcing the men and unmarried women to have to work in the army for three years each and the men must continue 45 days of the year. That disrupts families and lives and interrupts economic activity in Israel.
Dwight D. Eisenhower warned of the expanding the machine so much that it became like the Roman Empire and ended up falling apart. It had to be managed and limited. Now what does all this have to do with Cuba and China? Cuba has strategic importance in terms of the military and is alligned against NATO, which frightens the U.S. sense of security, ignoring that NATO helped to create the situations in Cyprus, Turkey, Eastern Europe, etc. Cuba has a lot of oil, agricultural output and is an excellent place for travel. China is bigger and has replaced the 'enemy' and 'friend' in this period after the Cold War. America needs to divide and conquer.

Not only that but with all the corporations moving to China it causes their economy to boom which rises the demand for oil and we pay more, so where did the Wal-Mart savings go? At the pump. I don`t blame stores like Wal-Mart because I know that corporations are not people and have no feeling. I think we need to change the rules and bring back tariffs that Reagan rolled back and protect our economy or we will not have one to fight terrorist.

I don't think our government had a problem with Cuba as much as it had a problem with Fidel Castro. Fidel used to be an excellent baseball player and tried out for the American League. If he had been signed on as a pitcher, we might not be having this conversation today.

It's all smoke and mirrors. Capitalism is the antithesis of Communism blah, blah, blah.
They are flip sides of the same coin. House rules. The solution is to identify the "house".
I have nothing against buisinesses until they become transnational Frankenstiens.

Simple research into the histories of our relationships with the two countries, or with all communist countries for that matter, would answer your question better than half cracked assumtions.
