I personally do not know. Your very best bet is to call your local Lowe's or Home Depot and ask them. I would not listen to what is being said online, people often times really do not know the answer. Ask a professional! Well I mean I wiould ask a professional when it comes to something that is going to cost a lot to do.

I wouldn't lie the ceramic tiles onto the vinyl because if the vinyl starts to curl as it gets old it'll crack the grout between the tiles, you have two option lay the board or take up the vinyl and then lay the tiles.

Yep keep the vinyl there and prime it. Then spread out some thinset and lay down some hardie backer while still wet. Make sure to tape yer seems with acrylic tape and mud over it with more thinset. Palm sand it smooth and your good. Lay your tile.

No. It doesn't matter how solidly the vinyl is set it will still flex and cause the ceramic tile to pop up or crack.

No...you need to remove the vinyl tile bceause it may not stay glued to the floor after you apply the ceramic tile mastic...also it will prevent the mastic from drying properly
