I sit at a desk all day and I'm always SO exhausted by the end of the day, even though I haven't done anything. I get daily headaches/neck/backaches and see a chiropractor once a week... I'm only 22 years old! I get 6-8 hours of sleep at night, fairly regular excercise, drink tons of water and have a pretty balanced diet. I've been tested for anemia and thyroid problems. (Negative results) I don't feel sad, so I don't think I'm depressed, and usually if I play a little softball or go on a bikeride, I get energy in the evening. Do I just need to look for a job where I'm not sitting at a desk all day?

I answer this one all the time because that is the way I used to feel along with environmental allergies food allergies and just not feeling well. I switched to organic food! Only organic except meat for that I went to health food store and found decent farmers who use no antibiotics, hormones or steroids. I feel 100% better now. Odd part is so does my husband. We have stayed eating organic because of how are health improved.

As far as your tiredness - you may just need to stretch your legs during the day. Try going for a walk during the day or if you can go up and down the stairs for a while...you could also try an exercise class that meets early in the morning before work...
Headaches and neck and backaches can be caused by a number of things. Are you under a lot of stress at work or do you like your job? Is your chair comfortable and do you sit well?
(I'm anti-chiropractors, but maybe try changing practices)
Also, have you been tested for epstein-barr?
You could try some good ol' caffine or another form of energy booster.
Good luck!

Just sitting there all day wears you out more and takes energy away more than if you were active. You need to move around more and get your blood circulating, sitting there all day makes the energy level low and you are more likely to be depressed. Beleive me, as an epileptic, parents got too scared I'd run out in front of a car or something while riding the bike,so they took the bicycle away when I was 30. Since then it's been: less exercise, less energy, knees gotten worse and so forth, I feel like I'm 60+ instead of 42. Keep active as long as you can.

Do you wake up several times a night tossing and turning or just from your back pain maybe? If your sleep is disrupted during the night then your day will be thrown out of whack. Whatever the case I'd check with a doctor, if the fatigue is severe enough that you dread going to work for the fear of actually falling asleep by the end of the day or at any point..then i'd be worried. sounds like though your not getting the quality of sleep you need not just the quanity...like I said you'll need a doctor to explain this further.

Deffinatly moving around every 30 min (or when you feel yourself getting tired) will help.. even if you just stan up and do some streches. Stiff neck and back could be due to how your sitting, or it could be your chair. The streching will help. This will also prevent you from getting tired eyes from looking a your computer screen. Remember to take a 5 min "computer break" every 2 hors at the most. This will help lower the chance of sorw arms, back and eyes (even hedachs) from stayingin the same postition too long.

Yeah, it just sounds like you need more exercise! You need to get your blood flowing. That is prob why you have all these aches and pains. Try to get in 30 min of exercise a day. You'll see some results right away, but after a few weeks you should feel a lot better.

Two years ago I would not have given this answer, but it works. Drink a cup of coffee. I drank my first cup of coffee two years ago. I work in an office, sitting at a computer all day. I get the same drowsy feeling you do. A cup of coffee perks me right up.
Its the caffeine in coffee that does it, so don't overdo. But two or three cups a day should not hurt.

You probably just need to be more active while you're at your desk, take breaks every now and then and run a couple flights of stairs.
you also might need to change when and how long youre exercising. If you're not getting enough it will make you tired.

Whew! Sitting at a desk all day would make Me tired. Are You under flourescent lighting? That might be it. They're more cost efficient, but are HORRIBLE for headaches, etc.
Also, You might be low on iron
