I mean, sure it's a bad idea, but maybe they ARE just working on nuclear power! Even if they are working towards 'the bomb' who are we to tell them they can't?

How would you like it if your neighbor insisted you couldn't have a grill in your backyard because there is a possibility you could use the propane tank on a bomb?

I am American, and have no like or dislike of Iran...my point is, I feel that we the USA has the power and ability to take the 'percieved' high road here...let Iran do what they want, but keep a very close eye on them...that way, when and if they DO go postal, we can saw "Hey, we gave them the benefit of the doubt, but now we have to go in and kick some asses..."

You are thinking in an abstract world in which there are no consequences to one's actions--and in that world it seems so very egalitarian. Who are we to say what another country can and cannot do?

In the real world world, however, if I can assume that you are an American, you are a citizen of the morst powerful country in the world with world-wide interests. You have responsibilities to your country and its perceived mission to spread democracy and to protect U.S. interests at home and abroad.

Iran has demonstrated itself time and time again to be hostile to U.S. interests, and sitting astride a significant proportion of the world's oil supply any expansion of its military reach and power could be very harmful to us. Whether it sounds "fair" or not to you, that is the lay of the land and if you allow them to arm with nuclear weapons when you have the capacity to stop it, well, you are letting your abstract sense of fairness intrude upon your common sense.

But then again, if your neighbour is capable enough to block your satellite, cut your phonelines, intercept your mails, steal your mum and sisters, lay barbwires to stop you from coming in and out of your house, smog up your backyard and house with smokes from a lot of grills in their own backyards....
You would have no choice but not to grill in your own backyard.

If you knew I did not like you, and we knew we were to be around eachother, would you want me to have a gun?
