It seems as though Americans have invented just about everything in the world that has made life a little better and afforded us to be a bit lazier. For example, electricity, the telephone, the radio, the television, the automobile, the stoplight, the airplane, the internet and even peanut butter!! What inventions have other countries come up with that have made such an impact on the world? I'm sure there are plenty I am unaware of. Please enlighten me....

OK, I stand corrected concerning the car.
And, second, relax people I'm not saying America is the best or that they invented everything. I said it seemed that way and I'm inquiring because I am quite sure it is not the truth. Thank You Very Much!

All inventions before the last two hundred years were made in other countries. The reason why Americans have had so many inventions and are so innovative is becausewe are the children of risk taking immigrants who were so driven to do better that they left their homeland and friends and families in search of a better life. We are from an amazing gene pool of global risk takers. And yes, we've invented the most important advancements of the past two hundred years, but there were other "tiny" inventions that were made before we "re" discovered America. Little things like reading, writing, medicine, music, agriculture, structured government, the wheel, the first alphabet, architecture, use of solar energy, clocks and watches, use of wind energy, hydromechanical energy, textile, astronomy, physics, chemistry (alchemy as it was known then), biology............. an so on and so on. even the first one that you mentioned, electricity, was invented by the ancient babylonians of the Persian empire in the form of an actual battery. Google the word "baghdad battery" and read in amazement that using vinegar as battery acid, they had made a low volt battery 4000 years before electricity was "invented" in the states. we're a great nation, but let's always remember that we stand on the shoulders of the world in this greatness.
I see that you're of color, so i must also say in your race's defense that some might say that the only countries that have never invented anything were the poor African countries and the ***** cultures but we must correct them and point out that it wasn't because Africans were dumb, it's because they had such natural hardships to overcome, like famine and drought.
Hope that helped expand your view of the world. It was a great question.

Aspirin was discovered and synthesized by the Germans. So was the printing press.
The thermometer, steam engine, railroad, modern toilet, radar and jet engine are British inventions.
TNT was invented in Sweden (Alfred Nobel).
Two entire branches of mathematics (Romanian and Lubechevskian geometry) are Russian inventions.
Anti-biotics are the result of Louis Pasteur's experiments in France.
The Chinese, in addition to gunpowder and fireworks, came up with a superb approximately of Pi (355/113ths) that only very sophisticated applications of modern technology need to improve upon with more digits.
Various primitive cultures without a written language have astoundingly clever discoveries and inventions. The Apache techniques of tracking animal prints and human footprints are amazingly scientific and insightful (naturalist write Tom Brown writes about these in The Tracker and other books of his).
But, yes, a disproportionate amount of modern inventions are American.

If you live in America and read American books and visit American websites, you hear all about American inventions, and not much about others. If you live in Russia it is similar, but all Russian. Wherever you live, you learn about your own country's inventions and not about others. Scotsmen invented whisky, tarred roads, waterproof coats, television, pneumatic tyres, the Bank of England, . . .
