Allergies are not a strictly inherited kind of thing. While the tendency to have allergies certainly is genetic, whether an individual has allergies and what specific allergies the person has are very complex issues, and are not well understood.

It doesn't matter if either parent does not have an allergy to peanuts. Children have allergies when they are small; some of which they can grow out of. However, a peanut allergy stays.

Allergies aren't always passed on. I am allergic to Starwberries and Full Fat diary products but no-one in my family, up to 5 generations ago, aren't allergic to anything at all.

Allergies are strange, they can come on at any time in your life and some can go away too. You never know.

My brother's nephew has that. None of his parents ever had it, but see his mother was in her late 40's when she gave birth to him and that might have had something to do with it.
