from a fellow insomniac:

I really wanted to just get a sleeping pill and be done with the whole ordeal, but i really didnt like the possible dependency ( and health problems) so i looked further into herbal supplements

i tried a bunch of different products, but i was still laying in bed at night with my mind running wild!!!!

then my mother bought me a product called "Sleep by Res-Q". i never thought anything herbal would EVER work, but it did!

Other healthy habits to practice are
-No TV in the bedroom
-set a specific bedtime (and KEEP WITH IT!)
-no caffine 4 hours before bed
-start winding-down about an hour before you want to be alseep (read, stretch, ect.)

hope this helps, it changed my life!

U can do following:--
1. Learn Reiki. I have found Reiki very helpful in insomnia. For last 4 years, Since I passed Reiki mastership I have not faced "insomnia" and also not taken "asprin" for headache. Just a little reiki-suggestions to aching head and headache goes off like a obedient child. I get very nice sleep also. In other serious diseases I have no reiki-xperience. Perhaps I have not tried seriously. U can write me exact cause / time / history . Perhaps I may send u "Distant Reiki-suggestions" 2 help.
2.Watch "astha TV channel at 6 AM to 8 AM. Do yoga exercises with it.
3. Rauwolfia serp tincture is a good homoeo medicine. But u must consult some doctor before taking it, as u may b having some other symptoms also. U may write2 me, if u have any.

The best result to it is do not call it "insomnia:. If you are awake let be awake. Don't make any effort to sleep neither be on a lookout for result. Just have some insights in http://oshoworld.com . You probably need to understand your loneliness.

Meditation is the best remedy for insomnia-it relaxes the mind and you get a sound sleep in no time! IT is better than taking sleeping pills and getting addicted to them!

Wear yourself out with a good exercise--about 3-4 hours before you go to bed. Then take a long warm bath or a shower. Then get something warm to drink (w/out caffeine). Then turn off the TV, read a book for 20-30 minutes and then close your eyes.
Night-night.

A hot, lavender scented bath, soft music (no TV or stimulating books), avoid heavy meals or caffeine two hours before sleep, a nice cup of herbal tea, slightly lower the temperature of your bedroom (cooler bedrooms can fool your body into wanting to sleep), wear loose clothing to bed (nothing tight or constricting).
Hope this helps!

There are many medications out there for sleep disorders. Have you tried any of them? Examples are ambien, restoril, and lunesta. It is a blessing to those of us who have lost countless hours of sleep. Your doctor could probably provide you with free samples to see if it can work for you. Good luck!
