Me tink:

1) Filling the roadside wif new plants tat obstruct the pedestrian / Road User's view - YES
(S'pore has over done itself 2 promote the Garden City Image)

2) Filling newspaper wif (pages aft pages of) reports on IMF - YES
(theres more news worthy stuff 2 write abt - I care more abt current affairs rather than where a delegate's spouse like 2 shop!)

3) Getting its citizens all hyped up over IMF - YES
(citizens should b encouraged 2 portray a normal life)

4) Having posters, banners n ads on IMF at every corner of S'pore - YES
(we already know the IMF is in town, spare us of reminders)

5) Beefing up security wif police patrols (carrying gas masks) n attack helicopters circling around town - NO
(Better be safe then sorry)

Cheers....

No,In show business, hype is the spending of money on public relation in an attempt to bolster public interest in
movie, art, concerts etc. But, IMF/WB meeting is a totally
different business with the general mass not very keen on
it's happening, though it provides the government an opportunity to "publicize" Singapore world wide as a business and tourist attraction. If security measures are considered over hyped, then it's debatable as it's a matter
of perception.

if you're are talking about the security aspects of the preparation then i say they have done a good job. what makes singapore such a safe country is the vigilance of the police and its related agencies to prepare themselves for any mishap, disaster or acts of violence. it is definitely better to be safe than sorry. terrorists can strike anywhere, anytime and worst of all we don't know who they are and what they look like. if an attack on the convention happens and lives are lost, the impact on the world economy is going to be unimaginable. so be thankful that the preparations are for the good of everyone.

Yes. it's overhyped.

New coloured flowers and plants by the road (daisies), remaking of the roads, closing nicole highway, changing bus routes, advertising the "welcoming" advert on tv, banners everywhere, giving them their own private bmws,

are all payed with our tax money.

yes. it is overhyped.

Hell No! The fact that you 're asking this question show e size of your pea brains because you're too bloody ignorant to understand and too unconcerned about the things around you. You're like the people who agree with you too bloody immature to be conscious of the basics. So either go sleep or grow up.
