i worked as a waitress when i was pregnant, i worked 5-6 days a week but shifts were shorter. i worked until a week before my due date. but i did cut my days down slowly. i did not want to sit at home for 9 months. i think it is better to be active. just talk to your doctor, they can tell you if you are a high risk or if it is OK to work.

I waitressed last time I was pregnant, and I think it depends on 1. how you feel and 2. what your doc or midwife reccomends. It is a totally demanding job (especially if you work in a restataunt with stairs, like I did!), and most women are really really fatigued in their first trimester, so it can be tough. My shifts were only 5 or 6 hours - I can't imagine working 8-10! If you get the ok to keep doing it, maybe you should see if you can cut back a bit.

I work in a kitchen and I am currently 23 weeks pregnant. I do either 9 hour shifts or 5 hours shifts, it just depends when I'm put on to work. I'm kind of over the tiredness at this stage, but my back hurts after a full days work and I feel at times that I need a few days to recover from one shift! I don't imagine that I'll want to work much longer, about another 7- 10 weeks is what I'm thinking, no more. A girl in work recently left for her maternity leave when she was 34 weeks pregnant, but she was very uncomfortable for a good period before that. It completly depends on how you feel though. If you don't feel up to it any more, quit. That's what I'm going to do anyway :).

Well I can tell you right now that is ok to keep working as long as u feel good. I am 6 months preggo right now and I am a waitress and I work 6-7 shifts a week. My husband has a good job, but I like to have the extra $ and it keeps me moving around..which is good for labor. Just dont overdue it and you should be fine.
Congratulations on your baby!!

I worked up till the day my waterbroke...I also went to school full time(30 hours a week)...I worked at a local grocery store, i'd lift dog food, 12pk sodas, 30 pk beer for 8 hours a day up till i was about 6 months( i found out when i was 5 weeks) Personally i would say not to work more than 8 hours and try to get as many breaks as possible...I also was finishing school which was 12 hours shifts in a hospital 3 days a week...I think you will be fine unless morning sickness hits!!!

You and your husband should decide this. Being on your fet all day is not good...but thats for when you are further along. I began to get miserable at about 22 weeks and I'm still working (only because I want the extra money for now) So I would say quite at about 20 weeks and take the rest easy!!

I worked in a restaurant part time, nights, about 6 hours, up until I had early signs of labor, about 1 week before I had my baby. That was in addition to my full time day job (sitting all day.) I would cut back on your hours, even if it's not until later in your pregnancy, and just don't do anything too strenuous. Do it as long as you feel comfortable, and as long as you aren't having any problems. I didn't start getting tired and having my feet hurt from being on them until shortly before I stopped working. So it wasn't really a problem.

Work as long as you are comfortable. That may be at 6 months, or your might work until your ready to leave for the hospital. I would think that all the walking waitresses do would be good for you, but you'll want to be sure you have good shoes and aren't swelling (which usually comes way later!) Good luck and I'd say stay as long as you want.

I don't see any harm in working while you are pregnant, unless your doctor tells you not too. I've heard doctors tell my friends not to lift heavy things when they are pregnant. I'm sure the farther along you get, you might have to cut back on the hours, but why not work as long as you can. Extra money is a good thing!
