Perimeter means how long it is all the way around the outside. So, all you have to do is add up all the sides.

Your teacher probably wants you to demonstrate two things: that you know what perimeter means, and that you can simplify and expression. Well, I told you what perimeter means, so now all you have to do is simplify the sum of the sides.
