I have to do a project for school and I need to know what percentage of America kids should have their own computer. Please??!! I really need it. :-)

It doesn't matter because even if 99% of them had computer's you in order to maintain the statistic you would have to be that 1 in 100 that doesn't have one.
I bought my own when I was 16, I had a computer before I had a car. Of course I didn't get my license until I was 17. If you don't have a family computer, that's almost inexcusible these days, but kid's getting thier own computer I don't know...
I'm 23 btw, just you have an age reference.

Well from what info I've had turned into my business, about 45% of kids (being from ages 8 to 17) have their own computer. Of this 45%, only about one out of five have internet access. And of those with internet access, only about half have parental control software. I have these statistics readyt for worried parents who are wondering just how little Johnny got a trojan on his computer.
Additional Note: Please notice that I made the distinction of this 45% having their OWN computers. These are computers that they can access from the privacy of their own rooms. Computers that are Family owned are much safer, and the number of kids with ACCESS (not ownership) to a computer is closer to that of 95% in middle america, and 60% in lower income communities.

I think most of them do. If they don't have one personally, they have access to one in their household.
