Are there any women out there that have unusually long missed periods also called amenorrhea? I had missed periods as a new mother that breastfed but for a very long time, instead of the 6 months they say it should be I didn't get my menses for a whole 10 months and after that month(aug) I am going on another missed month. I am still breasfeeding my son but not nearly as much as before and even beginning to wean him. I am pretty sure I'm not pregnant, but have had abnormal and missed periods since I began menstruation. I am now 29 and have had pre-cancerous conditions and abnormal papsmears in the past in which I had a LEEP procedure done. I made an appt to be seen, but that will be another month yet to wait. Has anyone ever had similar conditions? I don't have an eating disorder and I am not under or over weight. I do tend to bruise easily and have hemmoreghed (sp?) after my second child 3 years ago. I may have a blood clotting disorder so b/c pills would not be a good idea

Ohhh, MENSTRUAL disorder. I thought you had a mental disorder. I can't help you with that. If you had a mental disorder I might be of some service. At any rate, go to the doctor, my sister in law had something like what you are talking about. She didn't have her period for about a year. No, she was not, is not, or ever was pregnant. It turned out to be something that wasn't "serious", but I don't remember what it was or what caused it. Anyway, she's much better now.

I know this lady who had the exact same symptoms as you do, and she went into the hospital and had a complete work over done on her, and her condition turned out to be totally something not related to the female reproductive system. Now, me being a guy, I'm not sure what it turned out to be, but it was something she was treated for, and now lives a happy, normal life. I just feel one should not believe everything they are told, and this rings true especially if they have good insurance. I have been told a couple of times I had a condition that was life threatening, and I did nothing about it, and "wow" it went away on its own. Can you imagine that? The medical systems bottom line can sometimes be unhealthy for you, if you know what I mean. Good Luck!

it could be any number of things. I will share my own experience...

I had amernorrhea for 2 years. it was because I have polycystic ovarian syndrome. It caused me to gain weight but that is not always the case. My sister has it too and she's an average size 7/8.

Due to your abnormal paps and blood problems, it is probably something else entirely, but dont rule it out because it can sneak up on you.

I don't know if your insurance would allow you to go to another doctor that may be able to see you sooner, but you might want to check into that as well since you have to wait another month anyway.

i would say if you are on birth control that this would be semi normal, although i would be concerned.
because of breastfeeding, this would cause your cylces to not be as regular, but, once your body gets onto a schedule, they should have resumed.

i have experienced the same problems that you have described, i went to my doctors about 3 weeks ago. i have been told that i am going through early menapause. you should get checked out. i am only 30 years old, so that was a huge shock to me.

it only involves a simple blood test to determine your testosterone level. (just giving you something to think of)

I have not had my period for the last 7 months, I was diagnosed with ovarian cysts, it isn't something that serious, don't worry too much, good luck to you, hope everything goes well,

the breast feeding -- no matter how little can cause you not to have a period. but if all that other stuff is true then I think seeing the dr. just to check up on everything would be good.

You know I'm a musician. Would you mind if I called my band "Menstrual Disorder?" Our band cannot come up with a good name and that actually sounds cool.
