You are asking about a rather larger number of variables. You need to be specific about which diagnoses. Is there a time limit? Do you want to know the number of referrals in a week, month, year, 5 years?

You should call or walk-in to local clinics in the area and see if you can set a time to meet with the director. Most professional PTs will be willing to work with a student. If he or she is unable to give you some time to talk, move on to the next clinic. Tell him or her that you are researching referrals in the area and would like to collect data in participation with his or her clinic. If you want to do a project with a larger population, you can get a list of PTs in a specific area from the APTA and mail out a survey.

Good luck!

referrals are based on assessment. such as when my son was seeing a therapist the PC gave him 4 visits and then after the therapist seen him and made out a plan of per say how many times a week therapy was recommended we did the 4 sessions then had to return to PC to extend the referral. they don't just refer you and give you say 10 to 20 visits it is all based on the treatment plan for the individual and there are so many different diagnosis out there it is impossible to narrow them down. irregardless the referral has to be extended over and over.
