.. My theory is that the field workers were urinating or defecating on the product and the product couldn't be cleaned despite the thourough process. This is no joke! About 1-2 months ago somebody died in IL eating bagged lettuce and it was traced back to minute amounts of fecal matter.

I lived in CA for 10 years and I never saw a port-a-potty in a field ever. WASH all veggies even if they say they are prewashed. Your life depends on it.

My theory is that the e.coli was planted there by a competitor (like a lettuce company). People who used to eat spinach now eat lettuce. Go capitalism!
