I am 28weeks (and some change) and I am huge! I have gained 32lbs and I am all belly. The doctor that checked me yesterday said they baby responds to my actions hich they usely can't do untill further along. Everyone askes me if I'm having a boy (which I'm not -Its a girl-) or they ask if I'm towards the end. The baby is extremely low and I'm extremely huge!
Could I be further along?? Should they check at my next appointment?

Hi, I am 30 weeks pregnant and I gained 30lbs so far. I was tiny before pregnancy and actually a bit under weight so I'm glad with the extra pounds. I am also carrying the my baby very low and he actually started responding to my touch and voice at 25 weeks and my doctor said that this was not the norm but it happens. It is a myth that boys are bigger than girls as my sisters baby girl was much bigger than her son. You were probably quite tiny when you started this pregnancy and because you are carrying low the only way the belly can go is forward. My doctor said just because I am so big now does not imply that I will become huge towards the end of my pregnancy, it could actually slow down a bit (even though this does not seem to be happening). Do a check at your next ultrasound to rule out if you are further along as they can determine this but chances are that you are just like me-huge-but heads up chubby baby are the cuttest right!!! good luck with the rest of your pregnancy.

p.s if you want to compare bellies mail me: bridgingagap@yahoo.co.uk and I'll send you my belly picture at 23 and 30 weeks

So you think you are big for the gestation period? Well, size is relative to your body structure- are you petite? small framed? Sometimes mamas who are small tend to look "all baby" because of your structure. Also, is this your first baby? If so, seeing yourself pregnant can lead to some anxiety of thinking you are larger simply because you arn't used to being this way. If this is not your1st baby, multiple pregnancies tend to show larger as well. That, I don't know why, but they do! (mama to 3 here- each one I looked bigger and bigger!)
If you are really nervous, always check with your doctor or midwife. Obiously you know this isn't twins- because you know the gender, I'm assuming from an ultrasound.
Your doctor or midwife should check to see if you are gaining weight more rapidly than average at this point. Gaining weight quickly can be a result of gestational diabetes. (which is not uncommon and easily managable with proper food intake, so don't let your doctor scare you into thinking this is a major issue)
About your due date-please take it with a grain of salt. It is an "estimate", not a guarantee that your baby will be born that day. It is possible to have miscalculated. But the closer you get to the birthday, the more inaccurate the due date becomes- every woman's cycle is different, and the baby will come when she is ready.
I won't say there is no harm with another ultrasound- frankly they can just add to the worry because they arn't as accurate as you might think. Tat said, if it make s you feel better (and that is what is most important YOU feeling better, not your doctor) then by all means have a check up.
I wish you well and congratulations!

All my Best~

I am now 37 weeks 3 days along and I know EXACTLY how you feel because I have been going through the same thing. I had a dating ultrasound at 5 weeks and I've been measuring 2 weeks ahead at every appt. I thought my due date was wrong as well but, I've been assured and REassured that it's not. My OB says it's perfectly fine, I've been to see a dietitian as well so I know I'm eating right. I did gain 60 pounds this pregnancy. The baby appears to be big and I've also been told that there is a lot of amniotic fluid surrounding him. Water retention also plays a role in all of this as well. Try not to worry so much, I'm sure everything is just fine.

As far as rude comments from people, that's when you have to be strong and ignore them..through one ear and out the other. I can't tell you how many times I've been asked if I was having twins..it really bothered me a lot at first but, I trained myself to ignore it. As long as you and baby are OK and doing well..who cares what people say!! All the best to you!!! I will keep you in my thoughts! Congratulations!

I'm 22 weeks and look like I'm ready to pop. This is my second child... and I'm having a girl. My first was a boy and my pregnancy was completely different. With her, I look HUGE... and carrying very low and wide. I don't think you're further along... your doctor would have told you by now. You must have had your 20-22 week ultrasound where they measure for everything... they would have picked up on it already.
You've put on quite a bit of weight, so that may be contributing to the look of your belly. I don't know what your beginning weight was... but generally you're to put on between 25 - 35 lbs. I've so far put on 15 lbs.... but it looks like 30. We're all built different... I wouldn't worry about it. Just try to ease up on the hard calories... and congrats! You know what they say about girls... they steal their mother's beauty during pregnancy. And it's all worth it.

hey,
this big stuff is highly normal it is all in how your body reacts to the being of another human being inside

this is also caused by the membranes surrounding your baby and your stomach are stretching beyond there will in adjusting to that baby
making room for him in shorter terms so this just as well can also be sweeling

but do not worry
because your stomach can be as big alone up to 25-35 pounds without your body but tyour baby will be reasonably small but this is in the weiredest way good
because this allows the baby room to relax in the more space the lighter contractions will be because he'll have room to move around and the contractions come from the baby coming down
but when it has the nesscary or more space it'll help u threw labor much more trust me on this

AND SOME OTHER REASONS MAYBE:
STRESS
BODY WIEGHT BEFORE PREGANCY

BUT DOT WORRY IT IS NORMAL

EVERYONE'S BODY REACTS DIFFERENT IN HAVING ANOTHER HUMAN INSIDE U IS A BIG DEAL

CONGRATULATIONS IN
GOOD LUCK

Could be, but your doctor should also be measuring the fundam (sp?) and tracking that with your due date. It's possible you may just be having a big baby, or have lots of water around the baby (which is great!) If you are really concerned, ask your doctor for another sonogram to get an estimated fetal weight to see if it's a big baby. You know--a lady in Connecticut just had a 14 lb, 13 oz baby boy!!!! (I wouldn't wish that on anyone though, ouch!)

Has the doctor checked your fluid levels? Sometimes if there is too much fluid it can cause women to look bigger. Ay 28 weeks the baby is only about 2 1/2 -3 pounds (My son was born at 29 weeks and was 2 lbs, 15 oz)

I think you should ask if you are farther along then you think but your Dr. would have noticed. I am huge too an only 9 weeks but I am having twins. Maybe you are having twins and the other one is hiding. Its very common not to know until you deliver. Hope all is well. Good Luck!!

usually the doc should measure the baby with the ultra sound. That determines how far along you are. If you think that you may be further along than talk to your doctor. I'm sure he will double check to make sure his calculations are correct(or not).

Everyone gains differently. some with complications, others with none. Get the doc to do a ultra sound, and see for sure how far along you are. they do that anyways now don't they?
At 9 months I gained 75 pounds... it really only depends on you and your body.
