First of all, from the Arab persepective, Israel is was was a colony of the west into their lands. When all's said and done, it's hard to argue the point.
A "democratic way of life" may be the US view of Israel, but that doesn't rate very highly from their point of view. If you really don't understand, look at it like this: If me and my friends took over your house and kept you prisoner in your basement, would you really think better of us if we "voted" on what TV shows to watch?
Next, any money the US has given the Palestinians is rather small compared to what Israel is and has been getting. Oil-rich arabs have been giving greater levels of support.
"Otherwise, they'd all die from hunger already." ??? I assume you are joking; I can't think of a response that would be both polite and accurate.
What provoked this response? First, eviction of Palestinains from their land to make was for Israel under the original western-powers' UN efforts. Then, when Israel declared themselves a nation, not just a UN territory, we immediately recognized them. Then, when Arabs tried to regain their land, we armed Israel.
Every time an Israeli soldier guns down a kid playing in a field, Arabs recall that US support created the condition - occupation and arms.
From an Arab point of view, if the creation of a Jewish state by western powers after the Holocaust was really that justified, why not in the west? Who was the west to arbitrarily give away Arab land?
Indeed, they have a point. The population density of the west coast (as one example) would have dislocated far less people; people who were at least represented by the decision-makers of that day.

They're angry because of our unconditional monetary backing of Israel because the two are related and have been fighting for years.
I say the only way to protect ourseves is to cut off all financial support of the entire middle east other that regular imports and exports(if any).
Later Added:
Oh, for cryin out loud! Just read what the Islamo Facist Wackos say about it! Sorry, but I am just trying to answer your question truthfully. Cut off the WHOLE middle east, in my opinion is the solution.

Muslims "excuse" terrorism for different reasons, I believe. Either they are complicit with the terrorists goals (establish an Islamic Caliphate in the Middle East, erradicate Israel, remove non-muslims from the region) OR they fear the backlash if they oppose those who have a literal interpretation of the Koran. Our relationship with Israel has been a problem for them. But, the real reason we have Islamic radicals is the Koran. That's right, it's in the Koran.

And why would the Palestinians die from hunger? Because they are being suppressed by Israel. Israel is one of the richest countries in the area and yet we still send them aid.
thank you ken_shak, i was running out the door and could not give a better answer, now that I'm back I don't have to; you said it all. And for those who gave him a thumbs down...what reason do you have? What he states is fact, not conjecture. If you can dispute the facts, lets hear it.

The West did NOTHING to provoke the attacks from the corrupt Muslim terrorist organizations.... and,
YOU are CORRECT to say most Muslims support the terrorist actions of Muslims....
the way I see it, if they do not speak against Muslim terrorism, they are in agreement with it and are supporters of it.
The income from oil is not for the everyday Arab, it goes to the corrupt ruling families....
We should give NO MONEY to any Arab country.... they just stab the USA in the back... they are sick skunks.

Israel and any problems related to it, in spite of what you might read or hear in the world media, is not the central issue, and has never been the central issue in the upheaval in the region. Yes, there is a 100 year-old Israeli-Arab conflict, but it is not where the main show is. The millions who died in the Iran-Iraq war had nothing to do with Israel. The mass murder happening right now in Sudan, where the Arab Moslem regime is massacring its black Christian citizens, has nothing to do with Israel. The frequent reports from Algeria about the murders of hundreds of civilian in one village or another by other Algerians have nothing to do with Israel. Saddam Hussein did not invade Kuwait, endangered Saudi Arabia and butchered his own people because of Israel. Egypt did not use poison gas against Yemen in the 60's because of Israel. Assad the Father did not kill tens of thousands of his own citizens in one week in El Hamma in Syria because of Israel. The Taliban control of Afghanistan and the civil war there had nothing to do with Israel. The Libyan blowing up of the Pan-Am flight had nothing to do with Israel, and I could go on and on and on.
The root of the trouble is that this entire Moslem region is totally dysfunctional, by any standard of the word, and would have been so even if Israel would have joined the Arab league and an independent Palestine would have existed for 100 years. The 22 member countries of the Arab league, from Mauritania to the Gulf States, have a total population of 300 millions, larger than the US and almost as large as the EU before its expansion. They have a land area larger than either the US or all of Europe. These 22 countries, with all their oil and natural resources, have a combined GDP smaller than that of Netherlands plus Belgium and equal to half of the GDP of California alone. Within this meager GDP, the gaps between rich and poor are beyond belief and too many of the rich made their money not by succeeding in business, but by being corrupt rulers. The social status of women is far below what it was in the Western World 150 years ago. Human rights are below any reasonable standard, in spite of the grotesque fact that Libya was elected Chair of the UN Human Rights commission. According to a report prepared by a committee of Arab intellectuals and published under the auspices of the U.N., the number of books translated by the entire Arab world is much smaller than what little Greece alone translates. The total number of scientific publications of 300 million Arabs is less than that of 6 million Israelis. Birth rates in the region are very high, increasing the poverty, the social gaps and the cultural decline. And all of this is happening in a region, which only 30 years ago, was believed to be the next wealthy part of the world, and in a Moslem area, which developed, at some point in history, one of the most advanced cultures in the world.
It is fair to say that this creates an unprecedented breeding ground for cruel dictators, terror networks, fanaticism, incitement, suicide murders and general decline. It is also a fact that almost everybody in the region blames this situation on the United States, on Israel, on Western Civilization, on Judaism and Christianity, on anyone and anything, except themselves.
Israel is only an excuse Islam uses in the west to further their cause of conquest. The list of Muslim atrocities worldwide is incredible. Approximately 30 wars involving Islam. Millions killed, enslaved, raped, and displaced.
If the wealthy Arab countries wanted to solve many of the hardships of the Gaza Strip, as well as other hardships of their Palestinian "brothers," they could easily do so. The latest increase in oil prices added more than $50 billion to their bank accounts, according to the estimates of economists. There would be a tremendous change for the better in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The problem is that the Arab countries are not even keeping their minimal promises to assist the Palestinian Authority. They want other countries - Japan, the United States and countries in Europe - to increase their contributions.
The disregard of Palestinian distress on the part of the Arab countries deepens the vacuum that the Iranians and the Al-Qaida extremists are trying to penetrate. In the final analysis, the Arab countries will also have to pay the bill. Apparently, those who claim there are Arab rulers who are interested in having the Israeli-Palestinian conflict continue, in order to divert the attention of the masses in their countries from their severe distress, are correct.
