I think both Bush's were very smart in choosing their VP. Can you imagine? President Cheney?

thanks, Chris, I looked it up. Pro tempore, not majority whip. I had to look up the difference between them, too! I guess I am the dumbest person on this forum...heehee

Yes he would. And if the left-wing pipe dream of getting them both was fulfilled, Hastert would become President, unless the Democrats win the House in November...
Yow. The thought of Speaker Pelosi is scary enough, but President Pelosi? I think you just scared me out of a year of growth, Heidi. Thanks.
Edit: The President pro tempore comes after the Speaker, not the majority whip.

Ok, to stick to the question - yes, if President Bush would leave office for ANY reason, Dick Cheney would become President. It is the line of succession.

Ah... I read your profile, "You love to play Devil's Advocate", so will restrain myself from cursing, ranting, and berating:
1) Your apparant lack of education.
2) The deplorable state of America's education system.
3) The constant use of rhetorical questions here.
Amazing how few individuals (american citizens) have read the Constitution... or at least the CLIFF notes !

Number 1- What has President Bush done to be impeached???? If this was to happen, Vice-President Cheney would become President Cheney. I can imagine Cheney being president in a big way, but it's not going to happen.

You're right....out of the frying pan and into the fire.
The whole damn list of succession is worse than the next. This occurred to me a few years ago when I wondered why nobody had tried to assassinate Bush yet.....then it struck me, look who would take over
Better to keep the putz you know, and then turf the whole damn bunch of them in 2008

My thoughts exactly. That's why the whole clan would have
to go. Quail, cheney - right, they made it so safe for the bushes
to keep their position. I think it's called dirty politics.
