I have an avatar, and I have a few pictures as well. I like using this one because I feel that it represents me the best.

Real photos, unless they're too revealing. Besides, they didn't have a good avatar for granny.

I prefer the mystique of avatars over real photos.It tends to ruin it for me when I see what someone actually looks like.

Depends on what suits you or how you're feeling at the time.I don't really like the yahoo avatars, cuz they all look alike. 12 years old!
