I am originally from London, I grew up in West Hampstead. I am now living in the U.S. with my wife and we are planning on re-locating back to London next year. We are looking to find somewhere to live. We want to live in a nice, safe neighbourhood, ideally not a million miles away from Central London. However, we are also looking to find something we can afford. Personally I have a liking for West London (Maida Vale, Holland Park) but that's realistically out of our budget. Does anyone have any good suggestions... Thank you!

troublerantsagain.... I've been to Glasgow and trust me, unless you are blind and have no sense of smell, Glasgow is not even in the same league as London in terms of beauty and style and history and culture etc...

Quite frankly, prices have risen astronomically in London. I also love West London; West Hampstead may still have some areas where you might find something. There are also the Latimer Road and Shepherd's Bush areas where you might find some streets that are not too bad. What about the Kilburn area? Brondesbury Park? Then you might try the East End, although that's rising in price too. It's very difficult, but try investigating estate agents etc. I wish you luck.

Our tour guide said he just bought a 600 square foot hole in the wall flat in the "bad" part of London for what would be for us in Florida a smallish mansion. Well, about 2000 square foot house, anyway. And on a golf course, no doubt.

I believe it cost him 125k pounds because I think he said it was $250,000.
I really don't understand how anyone can afford to live in London at all.
However, if you're not opposed to it, I took the train from Paddington to Oxford and most of the small towns along the way were gorgeous and didn't seem too far away. I would personally recommend those, but it depends on what type of lifestyle you have, I suppose.

You can live in Bayswater, Paddington, Hyde Park, Marylebone, Fitzrovia, Mayfair, Notting Hill, Regents Park and the West End, most popular areas of central London. Better you contact any reputed property agent like Kay & Co Central London estate agents and property consultants provide a tailor-made, high quality service for home buyers dealing with property (Sales, Lettings and New Homes) in exclusive areas of Central London.

Are you a millionaire?
Seriously. If you want to live in a nice part of London you need serious money.
You might have to live quite far away from the centre and commute.

well I dont know how much $$$ it would cost but I spent a semester abroad in South Kensington right around the imperial college...I would imagine that area would be greatly expensive but it was a great place to live.
