I don't think so, because they are historical events. I think that if these films were taken that way there would be a larger outcry over them. Is Shakespeare racist against the French in some of his historical plays (Henry IV for example) No. Are some of the Gtreat classical composers branded for thier then popular beliefs? Maybe some are, but times change and attitudes with them. What was common belief then is seen as bigoptory today.

You're kidding me, right? How far does PC really have to go? When we have to re-write our history to make it more PC, we are all doomed. In the war, we fought other COUNTRIES. Countries are generally made up of the ethnic people who live in those countries. Get it? We fought Japan. Japan is made up of Japanese. Therefore, we fought Japanese. Same for the Germans. Would you prefer that in future movies Emperor Hirohito be played by a white guy or that Hitler be played by a Jew? Now THAT would garner offense! Let the facts be the facts and quit with the revisionist history!

Yes- in the 1940s, the War Department declared films to be necessary for morale and propaganda after World War II. Hence, most German or Japanese characters are portrayed as one-dimensional villains.

Of course not. This misguided notion of labeling everything as "racist" just because it exposes of shows derogatory or otherwise bad or anti-social behavior of a particular group is utter nonsense. Yes, The Japs did bomb Pearl Harbor; yes, the Japs did commit the rape of Nanking; yes, the Japs did brutalize prisoners of war; yes, the Japs did commit all sorts of atrocities in World War 2. Does that make any discussion or depiction of these events "racist"? Of course not. The politically correct wimps who think it is a crime if you say anything but nice-nice things about anybody are idiots and fools.

To some degree, yes they are. But, if you look at them in context, they seem to reflect whatever the politio-social vibe was at the time the movie was made. So, WWII films often cast the countries you mention as evil, because they wanted to garner support against the ememy (in this case, the axis powers).

No, I generally see them as an interpretation of the history we've been taught. If the US makes a WWII film, it's made from the US historical perspective. If a WWII film was made in Germany, it would probably be depicted in a different light.

No. Most films don't show the atrocities committed by the axis powers during WW2 because they wouldn't be able to get the pictures made. You have to read history books to learn the truth.

Yes.
They are racist because they are usually told from the american perspective. It is biased.
If the are not racist then movies with slaves are not either? The Little Rascals are according to Bill Cosby. Where is the line?
