Your scanner probably came with OCR (optical character recognition) software, check it out to see whether it can do the text conversion for you. On mine, you just drag the scanned image onto, say, the Microsoft Word logo, and the OCR software automatically cuts in and turns it into editable text, most are like this. Otherwise you will need to find OCR software from another source. OCR software works well on good quality scans, but it's always worth a careful check through the whole text to make sure there are no silly misinterpretations. If you don't have OCR software and only need to make a very minor change, such as to blank something out, you might get away with using graphics software such as Paint.

I agree with all answers that have been provided thus far. Your scanner may have OCR software already bundled with it. Check the disk provided by the manufacturer.
