I lived in south carolina. I lived with family there my husband and i were planning on saving for a house but the family we lived with needed our money so we had none saved. Then their lights were shut off and I couldnt afford that bill too so i left. I had newborn twins and with out power there was no water and no air conditioning and its hot there. I came home to vermont and i am staying with an other family memeber. I would give anything for my own place again but i cant seem to find anything in my price range. My husband and i both work we dont make a huge lot of money and i have applied for housing assistance. Is there some way that i can rush that application process? or any advocates that can help me

Hi...
Sorry to hear of your predicament. I am not sure about your state's social services, but here in Arizona, to get any type of assistance requires that you have very little income. There is no way to 'rush' the process as far as housing goes, but if you cannot afford food, you should be able to get 'emergency vouchers' until you get approved for services. Affordable housing is rare anywhere these days, but ask your local social services if there are any programs in your state that can help you. Often you must get on a waiting list. Also, some charitable organizations will pay your utilities a time or two. The Saint Vincent De Paul's in my town does this.
Good luck. Don't despair. Be patient. G

Depends what you class as affordable! I live in an affordable area (to me) and its really nice, at the end of the day wheever you live you'll get good and bad people... every area has good parts and bad!
