Look Mr Jones and Dirty n you must be right that we don't know anything about God but i personally think that i try to find God and talking and listening about God gives me different dimensions of His existence.
I think you must have heard about Indian Saint Vivekananda. He was the disciple of Swami Rama Krishna Paramahans. Swami was once challenged by a great intellectual to prove God. Swami was a great devotee of God but he was illiterate. Swami R K Paramahans was asked by opponent to prove the existence of God and Swami R K Paramahans asked him to start first and he started talking against God. when he finished his point Swami got up and gave him a hug. He was in great confusion that why Swami, instead of opposing him, came and hug him and bless him and finally he asked him the reason and you know what Swami R K Paramahans replied he said i am wondering that how great the God is Who has given you such an intelligence and you are blessed with a great mind which knows so much.
So you are right that I don't know anything about God but I have some interest in this topic I really don't know Him but I am in search of a path to know Him. Even if I would be able to know 0.1% of Him at the end of my life than i would feel myself blessed because than i could say that a breeze of air have touched me before passing

From reading and understanding you also have to think for yourself.. God as we know him is a supreme being.. Not just meaning superior to us but to our entire existence as it is. He is all powerful, and all powerful means his length of strength is limitless.. We see the universe for what we've discovered, and so we try to judge and prove everything but what we think we know so well. God is not made up of atoms and other energy because the matter he is composed of does not exist as matter we can comprehend.. God created the universe, it didnt say he was composed of the same material.. It is not told by a priest or preacher, or written down anywhere, its something a believer understands through the teaching of gods word. The bible is like a giant history book and a sort of Poor Richards almanac.. Your reason for questioning this is that you've chosen not to believe.. Then why is it that those involved in church services live longer than those who don't. Or many times there is better favor towards those who do believe.. Its all a matter of faith.. God exists in heaven, a place no man will ever reach until his death, and this is the reason for an unbelievers doubt, he cant analyze what he will never find

Because everyone is right. God is what we believe for ourselves, and for some people that's what's written in a book, on a scroll, on a stone, in the bathroom stall, in our bank account, on the condom wrapper in our pocket, on the drugs we take, or on the Internet. The problem persists that since everyone is right, someone must be wrong. If we tolerated the beliefs of others that did not infringe on our beliefs, things might be different, but then because one person's God is not another person's God we have wars to prove we are right and to convert those that don't believe what we believe. It's a good thing God's a God, cause otherwise God would probably be pissed at us.

The Christian Bible says that God is the creator of heaves and earth and before creation it was formless and void. The Latin term used for this is ex nihilo, which means out of nothing. Thus there was nothing before God created except God himself. God is also described as the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. Thus he is uncreated.
Where this is written is the first part of Genesis, but see the link for the other citations.

People get their beliefs from all over. The process of aquiring a belief is actually quite involuntary. People tend to "know" a lot about gods because many of the belief systems threaten you with eternal damnation if you don't know and believe these things. This creates a psychological effect of wanting to believe something so much that you actually do.
Regardless, the existence of deities is not known, so anyone that tells you that they know for sure is incorrect.

Just faith alone. After all, there are so many things that you cannot explain with what you sense in the real world of the natural and your innate understanding. The two must have a bridge to link them. This bridge is called faith. How do you explain faith? Where does faith come from?

How do many people know so much about God? They don't really know. They merely believe. To believe means one is convinced something (e.g the existence of gods or their natures) is true without any evidence to support it. To know takes much more effort. One should begin by questioning his beliefs and rejecting any that are disproven by objective evidence. There is no logical or scientific evidence for the existence of any gods. There is much evidence to make one doubt such things. Isaac Asimov noted that most people accept God on faith, and that many wise men reject beliefs in him for the same reason. Books considered sacred tell much about the gods used in their religions. Such books contain many contradictions and naive myths that science disproves, so I don't believe anything in them.

Most people believe in God. And they are eager to express it in places like this because it does not really matter What you say, it is what You say that matters :)
