Well, this is a tough one. Cigarette breath is pretty gross regardless, but definitely moreso when preggers.
If I were you I would just carry around some gum or mints and chew them, every now and then (especially when you think he's going to kiss you) take one for yourself and then offer him a piece.
It won't be so obvious to him that you think his breath stinks and it will serve your purpose.
The other thing you COULD do is try to talk to him about smoking around you since you are pregnant. It is a health risk to the baby to be around the second hand smoke - and to be honest, the smell of the smoke bothers you. Hopefully he'll be understanding of that and not smoke around you- but if he does... try the gum!

Many pregnant women have a heightened sense of smell, so this is not unusual. Maybe you should just mention to him the dangers of smoke to you and your unborn baby. If he refuses to quit smoking, just tell him how grossed out you get when you kiss him!! Sooner or later he will get tired of seeing you wince up every time he tries to kiss you! The best thing for both of you would be for him to quit smoking like you did (congrats by the way) because the secondhand smoke won't be good for your baby after he is born either!! Support him if he does try to quit, he may be a little harder to put up with for awhile!
Good luck!
I also agree with the first answer about mentioning it to a doctor, that way maybe your husband won't think you are just nagging him. Sometimes it helps to hear it from more than one person, especially if one of them is a professional.

I am actually going through the same thing with my hubby. Your sense of smell if like that of a bloodhound when you are pregnant. With my hubby I just try to be really nice about it. I say something like "Honey, I love you and I totally dont want to hurt your feeling, dont take this personally but my sense of smell is extreme right now and strong smells make my stomach turn and cigarettes are rather strong. Do you think you could use some hefty mouthwash after a smoke? I am dying to kiss you, you handsome man!"
Good luck!

AS silly as it sounds, mention it privately to your doctor. Then when he goes with you to an appointment, your doctor can mention how pregnant women have more intense smell. My doctor directly came out and told my husband, "...so if she says your breath stinks, take a mint to satisfy her." You could also try getting some "new" kind of gum or mints and offer him some. Or, be honest, tell him the hormones are driving you crazy and his breath is just stinky after smoking!

do you make sure you brush your tongue until all of the white build up is off? also make sure you brush the roof of your mouth and floss. food that gets stuck between your teeth can also cause bad breath. don't forget mouth wash and also try brushing after each meal to keep your breath fresh. if that doesn't help than maybe you should try seeing a dentist about it.

OK. Seriously. Just say something because nothing is more important than the health of your fetus. Even the leftover smoke on his clothes can be harmful to your unborn baby, plus being nauseated isnt fun for you either. i'm sure you can work something out if he loves you and your baby. Now do you realize how you used to smell to other people?

Be honest and tell him. It can be turn out to be funny. Just remember to do it in a, light hearted tone. Like a "Eeee, your breath stinks." not a "Eww."
Well whichever you think is better.
Honesty isn't really the best policy but it's your best bet, after all, he might be hurt if you indirectly hint to him about his bad breath, which might turn out to be tactless.

I had to be straight up with my husband, I thought it would be embarassing to hear it from anyone else. I explained to him that my sense of smell heightened with the pregnancy, and that I could not stand the smell anymore. I also told him that he needed to wear some type of smokers jacket or shirt when he went out to smoke, so he could remove it when he returned. He took what I said to heart, bought some mouthwash, and started smoking in old tshirts, and washed his hands and arms after each cigarette.

You definately need to discuss this with him, because it cause a serious prb with your intimacy if you guys stop kissing alot. So I would ask him to brush his teeth as soon as he gets home and after he smokes, if he isn't willing to do this, then get some really really strong gym. GL

I think since ur pregnant that makes both of u prego--so since u stopped smoking i think he should support u and quit too. You need to let him know how u feel--specially being pregnant smells are so much stronger--and explain it to him--and ask him to quit because u did.
Good luck----
