The question is wrongly worded. Meter is a unit of length , hectare of area that is length squared. One hectare is 100m multiplied by 100m.

a hectare has a hundred meters to each side, so it's 10000 square meters.

a hectare is a measure of surface. whereas a meter is a measure of length.

if you're talking about square metres, not metres, then you'v got 10'000 of them in a hectare.
