Last year I did some on-line research on head lice when we got a note saying a kid at my daughter's school had it. Everything said that head lice can only survive on the enzymes in human blood and therefore cannot be passed to or caught from pets, including cats.

Here's one article that mentions it:

Scroll down to where it asks if head lice are contagious.

Well if you read this month's parents, may have been last month's magazine there is an article on head lice and they stated that your pets can not carry lice. That they only live on human heads.

I don't know why the other person said this, but head lice are NOT spread by pets. The scientific name for a head louse is humanus capitis and as you can guess "humanus" stands for human. This is a human parasite and is not spread from animals.

Here is a website to prove that i'm not inventing;

Yes, it is possible! If you suspect your cat has lice, call the vet! If you have it, you might want to ask your vet what you can do to prevent your cat from getting it from accidentally.
