Will Muslims around the world heed his words? Or will Mr. Muzadi be targeted for violence himself?
"As long as it (the Pope's remarks) was made out of negligence, we are obliged to accept the apology... If the rage continues, perhaps what the pope said is true."
Thoughts, people?

After all... previous entreaties from Muslim leaders to end violence (as with the widespread rioting in response to the Danish cartoons) have gone unheeded... will thses words strike a nerve?

longroad: Respect is earned, not given. I have zero respect for people who argue their cases with suicide bombings, kidnappings, riots and beheadings.
Activists like Martin Luther King Jr. and Ghandi, on the other hand -- who can achieve massive change without resorting to brutal thuggery -- deserve nothing but resppect.

they will ignore him..
Calls for peace against the U.S. or it's community leaders (non muslim) do not serve their platform of hate.
Just like they do with Nonie Darwish & Wafta Sultan...
EDIT - Templar more to the point of your additional comments, In 2001, when Israel’s PM Ehud Barak offered Yasser Arafat East Jerusalem, 97% of the ‘West Bank’ and 3% compensation from Israel’s territory, in addition to all of Gaza (the Taba Negotiation); Arafat turned it down without so much as a counteroffer. Why??? Because accepting a peaceful offer meant a death sentence for him.. Just ask Anwar Sadat..oh wait a sec...

A wise person who has alot of power and is a religious figure should choose his words carefully which pope did not. Pope's remarks further fueled the fire of hate against the muslims.
Catholics and the pope would have been very angry if a powerful muslim leader had called Catholicism a religion that supports raping of young boys.
His apology was a bigger insult!
Hasyim Muzadi is a better man for asking muslims to pull themselves together and act in a peaceful manner! He probably will only have influence in the region he is from.
You have to keep in mind that there are several different muslim countries who are upset with the pope. Each country's government and Imams should try to calm its own people!

I don't think that Muslims will ever get the thought of having or doing the said thing they quote 100 times a day. Why? Because their chant for peace has become a pass-word and a bye-word. It is high time that they realize one cannot have peace, joy, happiness..... anything until they know the love of God (Agape). I am calling out to all Muslims, please stop saying peace be unto you and start speaking love, it might just register to you one day. Love is a fruit and without it you cannot become anything; all you continue to do is to insult and kill your own people on a daily basis in love of an unknown god. You people spit and curse anyone or anything that you think challenges your belief, but the minute someone says anything, I mean anything about you, and yours, you call up fire and brimstone. May the love of the true Almighty God be upon your souls. Amen

If you want muslim people to act peaceful and love the westernized world then you have to do the same with them. You can not expect them to love USA and Israel when both countries have killed, tortured, raped and violated human rights and continue to. If you are going to judge people's religion by the way the people act then also judge the right wing christians and zionist Jews by the same scale and hold them responsible for killing of thousands of innocent muslims.

it is any-ones guess what Muslims will do. There recent past shows that they won't heed the words. All I can say is they are testing the hell out of Christian Tolerance.

Just Wish people would refrain from comment about religions and stick to the problems facing humanity today. Especially Muslim, just wonder if the West really respects other religions other than Christian,
