Yes, it is very possible to change the monitor on your laptop. The procedure to remove the broken monitor varies from the type of laptop you have. You will need to order a replacement part from ebay, manufacturer, etc.
Use the below as a general guideline; your procedure will be different:

You should be able to do this, depending on your model. Check the back of your laptop and see if there is a slot for a monitor (usually blue or white). Then just plug in your monitor cable and fire the thing up.
Not knowing how you broke your screen, I'm assuming the rest of your machine is ok (i.e. you didn't drop the whole thing and break the hard drive). I used to conect my old laptop to my mintor all the time so I had two screens running at the same time. Of course, this may not be supported by certain models, but odds are 99% you can hook up a different screen.

Most laptops have a connection on the back that will let you connect to an external monitor. You just have the right connector and intall the correct driver for that monitor.
If that monitor came from a computer you have you may be able to get the driver from there. It is possible that Windows will be able to help you find the correct driver also.

yes you can, but it may not work just by simply plugging it in. All depending on the laptop. You may have to "turn off" your laptop monitor, and then plug another monitor in to it. There should be a button on your laptop, and you press [fn] (function) and then that button. (ie: [fn] + [f7].

Depending on the brand of your laptop, yes. However, some laptops require a docking station to be able to do so.
