Why should YOU feel terrible? It's time these brats were taught a lesson. It's all about their rights. What about the rights of decent citizens? Parents don't seem to know how to teach their children right from wrong. Teachers are powerless in the classroom. The pupils can do what they like to a teacher, but he or she is not even allowed to restrain them. When I was at school we'd have got the cane or the strap.

Why do YOU feel terrible? If the parent comes with some nastiness, tell the parent to come over and clean what his/her child wrote on the fence and to be a responsible parent and teach his/her child not to go marking other people's property.
BEFORE the parent comes to you, find out where they live, go over and give the marker to the mother or father; if the parent does not apologize or act like she's on YOUR side, send them a bill for painting over where the brat wrote on your fence.

Seriously, don't. I have a 12 year old and if I thought she was doing that kind of thing i hope that whoever caught her would yell at her. And worse than you yelled too. I think this is what the kids need to be honest. Everyone is too scared to do anything, me included a lot of the time. and they go on to do more thinking they can get away with it!

I shout at 13 year old boys every day as part of my job, don't worry , far from being scared for life he wont take a blind bit of notice. Now if you had shoved the marker pen where the sun don't shine ........ unfortunately not a recourse available to me.

The brat is 12 or 13. He should have enough sense to not write on someones fence. He is destroying private property. I wouldn't feel terrible, I'd track his parents.

Compensation era springs to mind for mental trauma, caused by you abusing him verbally, leaving him most distressed that he can no longer consentrate on his school work.
Punishment- have a cup of tea on me and relax
Next time kick his arris from one end of the street to the other.
Punishment- tea and cream cakes for doing it properly
Careful though, his dad might turn up wanting the marker pen back later..

Don't feel bad, just hope he doesn't send his parents round, these kids often come from parents with the same attitude, willing to kick your head in because you shouted at their kid, but not willing to believe their kid was doing anything wrong

Oh do be careful, if you hurt the little darlings feelings you may finish up in court, the laws have changed now, and the lunatics are in charge of the asylum.
PS I'd have done the same.

Theft, go 'fess up to the police.
We had kids playing on our farm machinery, we walked one back across the road to the parents house for thier own safety. All very careful and considerately done.
My farmhand got his face smashed in and the parent got 3 months inside for GBH.....just because we were trying to protect his kids.
So, I hope you have better luck when they come knocking....
