Cause in todays society... parents buy thier children by giving hem things like cars and stuff so they dont have to spend time with them..... these kids dont appreciate it because they did not earn it. I was so proud of my first new car... I kept it immaculate. but I didnt get it till I was 30... so I appreciated it more.Mom and dad can still say they love the children they ignore because they got them all the things they ever wanted.... turning them to self centered kids that have no concept what a dollar is worth. This is why kids also have no work ethic today.

Mommy and Daddy spoil their kids. I am a janitor in a high school so I know what you are talking about. I see the waste all the time. I found a gym bag, with a nice pair of shoes it, and that bag is still sitting in lost and found. I guess when parents will continue to buy nice things for their kids, then the kids will not care if they lose stuff.

I have to agree. lol During the days when i was in highschool all the kids had the best cars, while i rode the school bus. However the kids in my highschool had parents that were doctors, lawyers etc... and they could afford to spoil their kids rotten. On the other hand i have a friend who is none of the above and she helped her kid get a nice car and the kid can't even hold down a job. Go figure

My daughter's in high school, and she's all signed up for driver's ed this year too. She doesn't know it yet, but she's getting a beater. If she wants a better car, she can get a damn job and buy it herself. So, there will be at least one pile of junk in the high school parking lot.

Because instead of making them get a job to earn the money for the car they choose to hand them the money...or co-sign with them and let them get an after school job to help with the payments. I personally had to pay cash for my old barely running car in high school and I earned this by cutting grass in the neighborhood, for 3 summers. It build character and allow kids to appreciate the value of a dollar! Good question!

Because a lot of those kids get cars from their rich mommies and daddies. If they had to buy the car themselves they would all have junkers like all the kids I hung out with did. You can always tell who the "popular" kids are by the nice cars they drive.

The parents...unfortunately the kids are not learning anything by this. I worked and bought my own car when I was a kid in high school. I learned a lot.

LMFAO....I know. I drove a 1959 Ford pickup in high school (Sanford and son style). I think its really irresponsible of parents though. Especially giving them high performance vehicles.

At least you have a vehicle to drive to school-- my parents refused to let me drive and took me every day! Embarassment, much?

Hell if I know...
I'm still trying to figure out how people my age own a two story Colonial house, a luxury sedan, an SUV, have 2.5 kids and take real vacations to actual places every year.
