You know, it's just exactly what you said, "an opportunity of a lifetime" and as a parent myself, a single parent at that, if any one of my 3 sons had that same opportunity, I would humble myself and ask family. Or depending on the community you live in, I can't see why you can't do a fundraiser for him. are you involved in a church? Churchs help with that kind of thing too. I would go with the family first and fundraisers first.

good luck and I hope your son gets the chance to do this....as a parent, I hope you can find it in your heart to humble yourself and do what you have to do to get your son there!!

apply for financial aid with his school. If you go to church a lot of churchs will donate money to there members for situations like this. Go through STA Travel for his flight. They are a student travel organization and give discounts to students on flights. Get a loan. Have a fundraiser, like a garage sale where all of your friends and family can bring stuff and you sell it an keep the profits. Call your local radio station and tell them your situation and a lot of times they will help you set up a fund raiser and inform a mass amount of people and then you will make lots of money.

Good luck!

if you can take out a loan, and put yourself more in debt, lol, or ask family like hell and repay them all, sell anything you have, work extra hours or get a second job, They are really no charities that will help with stuff like that unfortunatly.... Depending on where you live you can also do your own fundraiser for it.... That sucks though, Ive been in a similar situation, but we had mass family help us out and we just owed like 15 different people, lol.

No sorry, but if that is a really big dream for your son, try to get the money, maybe with savings or a bank loan or I don't know, but if you really love your son and you think he deserves for it, do it, he'll appreciate it lifetime.

Your son needs to call local businesses and find some sponsorship.

I used to go to mexico every summer on a mission and everytime I went I raised all the money that sent me there. Not to mention I get my softball team sponsored every year too. Its easy, he can handle it, if he wants to go bad enough.

There might be something that your son's school knows about. Sometimes they have scholarship type things he could apply for for that sort of program.
