I was wondering if a company had invented a electric shock device that is fitted to cars to deter thieves? If anyone has invented one where could I get one? It would work a treat in the hell hole of Middlesbrough where I am where the crime rate is twice the national average!

The kind of thing Im on about is described in this article:

I saw an electric steering wheel lock, like the "Club", at a Phoenix auto show that delivered a big shock so wannabe hijackers couldn't cut it off. That company sold out 500 units in less than 4 hours at the car show. Sorry, I can't remember their name.

I did an online search for you. I did find this old article from Time.com Techwatch Jan.26.1998 ...

CAR TECH

SHOCK THERAPY With all the politicians getting tough on crime, it was only a matter of time before car-theft victims got into the act. Now Air Taser's Auto Taser, a $250 steering-wheel lock, lets vengeful car owners dole out their own brand of punishment against would-be thieves. If break-in artists ignore the Auto Taser's wailing alarm, they're greeted with a 50,000-volt "nonlethal" electric shock. Talk about a sting operation!

Good luck!

I don't know about the legality of an electric shock security device, but I once saw a documentry about car jackings in South Africa where flames shoot out from underneath the car at the press of a button, total toast to anyone trying car jack the driver.

Move to South Africa they sell Flame Throwers there to do the same thing.
Seriously I would buy a banger until you can move somewhere else. No self respecting thug gets brownie points from wrecking rubbish.
You have a clean city centre though. Saw it on TV this morning.

no you can't, but if you want to store a piece of wood with nails in under your seat covers and stick a warning that anyone unauthorised entering your car is responsible for the consequences you should be OK. but you have to remember they're there!!!

unfortunatly no not one for the whole car if you just touch it,but they do have something for under the door handles... but hey if it would all be legal you would have invented something awefully cool.
