They should be made to take advanced driving lessons. If they still persist a ban for life is in order however this may push people into driving illegally.I do not think there is an easy answer to your question.

No, that is a stupid, unenforceable and morally corrupt suggestion.

To take a persons property away from them against their will is by definition an act of theft and two wrongs do not make a right. When people like you encourage the powers that be to steal from the people they are supposed to represent you are actually encouraging a gradual but steady reduction in the human rights and freedoms which our past relatives fought died for.

A car is not neccasarilly a lethal weapon whether it is driven at, below or above the speed limit. A car is only potentially a lethal weapon the same as a very large salami is.

In an Ideal world yes, there are many crazy drivers out there. However, as cars are driven by humans there will always be mistakes, even from good, sensible drivers. You can't overlook the fact that some pedestrians need to brush up on the highway code as well, ie crossing the road inbetween two parked cars without looking.

The Highway code was written in 1968. It needs serious updating before any such facist action were even considered. E.g stopping distance from 60-0 the highway code states as 240ft. My car pulls up in half that. I do agree that some drivers really do qualify as stupid. It's not difficult to identify the ones that can't even use a toilet properly, yet they still are allowed to control 1.5tonnes of metal!!

No because that would mean you have to know each and every rule of the highway code exactly. Since the highway code is getting rules added to it on occassion you could potentially break a rule 5 minutes after it was added to the highway code. Have you checked if the highway code changed today?

Of course. I also think that any public bus that does not stop close to the curb to pick up its passengers should be confiscated since it is endangering their health and could be a lethal weapon that way.

Maybe but it'd never work.

Much of the highway code isn't actually the law - its just a set of guidelines for using the road.

High time it was the law though... people hogging the middle lane on the motorway...grr - you know who you are!

yes,
and shoppers who don't put the carts back
should have their groceries taken away
--'cause the carts are traffic hazards

and people who belch & fart in restaurants
should have to pay double
--'cause the smell sickens other diners

and smokers who throw their butts on the sidewalks
should have to walk barefoot
--'cause the cig. filters clog the sewer systems

and contractors who cheat little old ladies
should have to trade houses with them
--'cause those lol cry themselves to sleep worrying

plus,
car salesmen need more customers
and city/village clerks need more paperwork
and,
my friend the chief-of-police
knows that people who drive porsches
always disobey the driving rules
(and he knows that i like porsches, and he'll make sure i have a key to the impound yard)

i had to drive behind a guy in Ireland he must have been 70+ and i swear he kept in the middle of the road i couldn't overtake and he was dead slow ,my heart was pounding at corners incase a car wiped him out .
I was so relived when he went in another direction .
I'd been behind him for about 40 minutes .
