Teachers are not allowed to be off school sick every other week.
If a teacher has on-going health issues and are constantly sick, tthe headteacher and governors need to ensure that the continuity of care and education of the children is paramount.
It is my view that:
A teacher who is sick for more than six months, should not be paid and their job should only be held open for a further six months.
A teacher who is at school one week, then sick the next and then at school the next and sick in the following week and so on, is probably not suited to teaching at the school they work at and capability procedures should be implemented.

Well, on the flip side, at least they care enough about the students to piss and moan about everytime they are out. Some parents could care less if their children are at home in the middle of the night or not. Sad.

In my opinion if the child stayed at home and spend his time studying his lessons , it will be much better than going 2 school.

As a former teacher I can tell you that it is a very stressful occupation!
Why don't you volunteer in your child's school to really understand what is involved and what educators go through on a daily basis.

Wouldn't you be sick if you had to try and educate a load of screaming orangutans in a shoe box under the constant threat of some little spoilt toe rag giving you grief? knowing that you can't slap the little tw@ts.....

of course its not ok at all. i'm not surprised though; its like one rule for them and one rule for the kids. not that i am having a go at them. the thing is also that they get paid more in salaries than either college and university lecturers as well nowadays, which to me is unfair seeing as they too should be treated equally in regards to pay.

I don't think it's OK and they should have substitutes. That school is a mess.
