No, they are not perverts. Ever hear of prostate disease? Well, the prostate lies in such a position that the easiest- although the least pleasant - way to determine if it is enlarged (bigger than it should be) is to actually feel it through the wall of the large intestine. The other test which is done is to gather a small amount of stool (aka poop) and mucous to be checked for the presence of blood. Blood can be present in stool without your being able to see it, and it's one of the early symptoms of colon cancer, polyps, and other intestinal problems. If you test positive for blood in the stool, the doctors can then do further testing to find out why and where it is coming from. Since the problem can be detected and treated in an early stage, the cure is often possible. Otherwise, by the time you realize you have a problem, you really have a problem and one that's not easily treated or cured. So unless the idea of going through the rest of your life with a baggie glued to your side sounds appealing- or you have a great desire to end your days with your insides turning to gush- you'll learn to accept the test as one of life's little unpleasant moments. Besides, you don't really have to worry about anything unless you happen to notice both the doc's hands are on your shoulders.

They are not checking for blockages. If you had a blockage, you would most likely have told him. A finger probe in the anus is used to massage the prostate, to determine if it is enlarged or otherwise has problems such as infection. The prostate can be felt through the lining of the large intestine just inside your anus.

If this was your first time you probably not aware of what he was doing, he should have given you some insight as to what is the purpose of the procedure. It is very common for one to check your prostrate only way to enter and feel. Believe me have had prostrate trouble and four biopsy's here they put a tube up your anal area and take pictures.

They actually check for prostatic hypertrophy (enlarged prostate), hemorroids and tumors ... - if detected early - can be treated early! It can actually save your life!

they are checking your prostate. every man, if he lives long enough, will develop prostate cancer. scary thought.
