I would say at different times in their life, either could make a person happy. I would say that generally if you're doing something that is your passion, you'll be happier. I am struggling with bills right now, so just getting something that pays better right now is big for me; however, I know I can't stay at a job long if I'm not into it, so ultimately my answer would be...passion.

I would definitely be happier working in a job that i was passionate about. I would imagine i would feel less stressed out and more committed to work, if i was working in a job that i enjoyed.
But unfortunately bills are always a major problem which need to be met and are probably a major factor on decisions taken when applying for jobs.

Working a job you are passionate about obviously. But sometimes a better paying job with less passion has it,s good points too as then you can go out and buy more things you are passionate about.

lol, Y'all are funny.

Happiness doesn't come from money.

Working in a field you are passionate about MIGHT make you happier. but if you aren't happy, no one says changing jobs is gonna make you happier. if your passion is slinging burgers at McDonald's, you aren't gonna be happy, cause it won't pay your bills...

I would say find a job that you are passionate about AND pays the bills. at that point, you will be one step closer to happiness.

It takes a total commitment . Then evidently their passion will pay their bills. Until then it's just a hobby. ex: emeril lagasse, bobby flay, oprah w.
