David dont tell me you are questioning if it is your child or not!!!
Yes the child could inherit it from a grand parent or even a great great grand parent. Once brown eyes are in your family on either side.

Genetically speaking, two parents with blue eyes are supposed to have children with blue eyes...BUT there are cases in which the child could have gotten the brown eyes from a grandparent, great-grandparent, or any other distant relative. One of the parents with blue eyes just had the brown as a recessive gene, and it became dominant over the blue.

Yes, you have to understand when you have a child it not only has you two in this child but you als have your parents in you and so on. So yes it is possible for a child to have its grandpernts eyes or aunts eyes.... or some other relatives eyes. If your whole family has blue eyes and the baby has brown eyes.... umm there is a problem. Other then that don't worry about it .... it is normal.

absolutely. If one of those parents has the dominant gene for brown eyes, then it is completely possible. For example, if someone in your family has brown eyes, then the chances of you having that dominant gene are very likely, and the same goes for your spouse. However, it is also possible to have a child with blue eyes. (It's a hit or miss situation)

Yes, of course.

The laws governing eye colour and many other characteristics are far simpler than many people think. Think of yourself. You do not have the exact characteristics of your two parents (though you may well have some of those characteristics). The actual number of possibilities is fairly large for any given trait. But the chances are a child will generally have characteristics similar to people over the last few generations. Not necessarily those of the parents.

Blue is the recessive gene but if both parents have one brown and one blue gene you have a one in four chance of having a blue eyed child.

BUT - two parents with blue eyes can't have a brown eyed child - genetically impossible.

Yes it's called a through back, did both your parents have blue eyes and did both their parents. if even one of them had brown eyes it is possible for your child to have brown eyes.

However saying that I always thought that when babys when born their eye colour matchs that of the first male to look into thier eyes. It was something from ancient times to stop us from rejecting the child as not being one of our own.

I know that when I was born my eyes were blue and now they are Green spookey eh!!!! But my dads eyes are green so im ok!!!

Nope. Biologically impossible. Blue eyes are recessive. If B=brown and b=blue, each blue eyed parent ONLY has the gene b to offer. Brown eyed parents can be BB, bB, or Bb. So it is possible for brown eyed parents to have a blue eyed child if each donates the recessive gene.

Yes you can. Its all to do with the genes and it can go back generations. Both my parents have blue eyes, one of my sisters and I have blue eyes and my other sister has brown eyes. Apparently one of my great grand parents had brown eyes.

Yes, they can; the gene for blue eyes is recessive. Both of you got blue eyes because your own parents were both carrying the blue eye gene, which gave each of you a 50% chance of having blue eyes.

When having your own child, you each had a 50% chance of passing the gene to your child, which gave them either a a 25% or 50% chance of having blue eyes, depending on if they got the gene from one or both of you.

Obviously, one of you passed on the brown eye gene, which is dominant - it overrides the blue eye gene and your child had brown eyes.
