I was late on a payment and received a call from the credit card company asking me to pay. I told them I could not currently, but I could on the upcoming Friday which was payday. The lady told me she could go ahead and schedule a payment for that day, and I told her that would be fine.

The payment posted early! The result was bounced checks at $36 dollars for each. The credit card company is responsible for this. What, if anything, can I do to in order to be reimbursed for their error?

I had a similar situation. Get in touch with the bank manager, explain in detail what happened & why, then ask for a frogulent with draw form so that you can have the early with drawl recorded in the system & investigated. You did not authorise this payment at this particular time so there fore it is an unauthorised withdrawl. Ask if you should contact anyone else to help with this. Complain!! Complain to both your bank and your credit card company. You may need to be persistent and it may take more than two phone calls but you CAN get your money back. The original phone call with your credit card company will have been recorded ..... if you are in the UK both your bank and the credit card company are governed by the Financial Services Authority who should ensure that their customers are treated fairly, which in this case you clearly haven't been. If you are in the US there should be a similar institution. Look at the small print on your banking and credit card details. There should be a helpline listed. Good luck .... but please persist in your complaint. Don't let them get away with it.

Call your bank and explain what happened. Demand that they reverse the NSF on your account.

Then call the credit card company and tell them you want the NSF Charges credited IMMEDIATELY to your account!!!

Don't let the credit card company KNOW that the bank is going to credit the NSF charges! WIN-WIN situation for YOU!

Next time, MAIL a check OR do an ON-LINE PAYMENT for the CORRECT DATE!!!

No matter what date you write on a check or what anyone promises you to do.... you are the only one responsible for the bounced check. They have every right to cash it when they get it.
Its the law.

Next time pay by check, and make sure it is folded, wrapped around a pencil, and has a few staples in it.
