The body very often acts on it's own .We don't even know what is happening inside the body.Though one part of the brain is in control of the body we have no access to it.We have the custody of the body as we may have custody of a child but we can not say we possess the child even if it is your child.

We say ,I am not my body and it seems obvious .The body takes it's orders from..(I don't know who)for vital functions. It does not report to us.So I am just wondering if it belongs to us.I agree it is a strange kind of feeling.

According to me my body is mine but it belongs to my parents and the Supreme Power. Even though I can do whatever i want to do but if my parents ask me to do something I try my best to do it because I owe my life to them.
On the other hand I listen to my conscious because it is another form of Supreme Power.

The body is run by a genetic entity.
We are seperate entities, or beings who are using a body.
We have the ability to communicate with and effect the Body either adversely or positively. But you are right in your analogy,
in that custody of the child does not guarantee good treatment of the child.

At what point are you seperating the brain, the body and the self?
I see them as a linked enitity. Your brain contains the intellect that creates your concept of "self", your brain is also part of the body (it is an organ).
You cannot seperate "us" and our "bodies". This like taking the peanut butter out of a Reese's. It just doesn't work.

You are part of your body. You are what your brain generates because you are what you think. To say that your body belongs to you or anyone is to neglect the fact that you are your own body.
Maybe you can't control everything about yourself. You can't make your skin stop itching or make your hair curly. But it's still part of you.
Your body is not property. It's you.

You're right ! Although it appears to belong to us , in the real sense it dosen't.
But it is in our control to the extent of acting & reacting to the circumstances present before us.
Some automated functions of our body are not within the perview of our control like functioning of the internal mechanisms present within out body(scientifically termed as involuntary actions including natural death)

My body is mine - I can do with it whatever my soul chooses to do - its a shell protecting my soul. Sometimes it disfunctions but in general my soul and mind have control over what is going on. when I'm finished with my body it goes back where it came from -the earth and my soul will go and find another shell.

We don't own our bodies no more then we own our own thoughts. In a since it is a vessel, a portal, a enabler, a window to examine and observe. The whole idea is to keep
the vessel clear so It can remain sensitive and react to living properly.
