You'd need some sort of back-haul system. It would also depend on the land between your house and office. A back-haul is a point to point system designed just for this type. I have a Motorola Canopy system that is doing this over 5 miles for me now. Some of the new 'n' standards talk about a much greater range, but not sure if it'll cover 2.5 miles. Again, depends on the terrain.

You cannot, unless you put a wireless access point every 100 meters or so. If your company offers VPN, that would be the best choice. If you connect to your company's network with just a regular laptop, there's a good chance it will not work due to the security put in place.
