You're supposed to get one every 1-2 years. I kept getting migraines and discovered it was because I was straining my eyes. (I have astigmatism.) It was making my head hurt, and I was dizzy and nauseous all the time.

When I was wearing glasses, I believe that I went once a year when I was still growing up (because vision can change with growth), but as an adult, every two years was appropriate. (I had LASIK six years ago, so I haven't been back since, but I probably should get an exam anyway.)
It seems that your prescription needs to be adjusted. If you are having to squint with your glasses on, it's because your eyes are attempting to adjust the focus of light that the glasses should be doing in the first place. Dizziness would go along with that.
Nausea, however, might be something else going on, but it's good that you aren't ruling out eye trouble as an contributing factor. If you think that a medical condition is present, I would suggest seeing a ophthalmologist as they are medical doctors as well as eye-care specialists. I suggest that also since it's been four years and might need to have a number of tests run for possible eye diseases.
Hope that helps.

I would say every two years for a retest unless you think you have a problem, in which case go straight away for an eye test. If you work on a PC all day and do not have a good work position and your glasses are not correcting your vision this can cause your stated problems.

My eye doctor says 2 years for glasses, 1 year for contacts. I tend to get headaches when I don't wear my glasses, it could be you're straining your eyes too much. Sounds like it's time for another exam!

It's hard to know what's causing your nausea and dizziness, but it definitely could be your vision. Have it checked soon. If that doesn't prove to be the problem, you need to check with your physician.

You're feeling this way because you are straining too hard to see! Go and see an eye doctor immediately! You shouldn't have to squint to see.
