It will cause you some discomfort and maybe cramping if it is done right then it shouldn't hurt the baby. What I don't understand it why it the doctor waiting til 40 wks to turn the baby there will be little or no room to do so. I would tell you to request that they try it next week. Most doctors due it between 36-38wks. Because if they wait til 40wks then there is a chance you could go into labor before then and then have to have a emergency c-section. goodluck and CONGRATS

Ya...my moms doctor tried to do that with me and i still didn't turn (hey i was comfortable). Mom said it hurt really bad because he was like FORCING me to turn and I was fighting it. I ended up turning that night in the middle of the night though. My mom still had to have a c-section. Good Luck.....

If your baby's not turning maybe it's because he's grown into a full size and there isn't any more room in your tummy for him to move. Just be a bit more patient, maybe something will happen... other than that just trust your doctor.

Good luck and congratulations!

I don't know that. But you should try every thing you hear. walk as much as you can. and roll over in bed as much as you can. also try massaging the sides of your belly while sitting in a tub full of water. try going swimming. The swimming will lift the baby off your hips and allow for him to turn. walk back and for in the pool. good luck and god bless

i've heard that it does. he might turn on his own though. and this is why i don't like midwives. the baby does not always turn on his own.
