No amount of sleep (though with a newborn nobody really gets much sleep), no amount of food, and no amount of water helped. I was very weak. My 8 pound baby felt like holding 80 pounds. Walking from the couch to the bathroom (about 10 feet) was like walking 10 miles. Holding a simple conversation was like solving difficult math problems. This lasted for about a month then I slowly regained my strength and eating and drinking felt normal again. I feel completely normal now but has anyone experienced this?

You may have low blood sugar. I experienced this when I couldn't get my sugar levels back up no matter how I tried. Make sure you ask your doctor to test this.

I did not have any trouble with being hungry or thirsty, but I did experience the confusion you talk about. I did not know how to do anything and could not remember anything. I remember telling my husband to pay close attention to everything the nurse at the hospital was telling me since I would not remember what she said 5 minutes later. Even simple things like how long ago did I feed the baby, when did I change her, how do I work the remote control? It was very strange and frustrating since I started to feel like an idiot and was worried it would not go away. It took a while to go away, at least a month. I am due any day with my second child and wonder if it will happen to me agian this time.

Your body is in recovery after the birth of your baby. Not just from child birth, but from 9 months of changes. You do need alot of re-coop time. Probably more than a month. Think about it. Your body took 9 months to get to develop another human. You gave birth. Do you expect to really get back to normal after only 1 month? NOOOOOOO!! Need at least 3-4 months. Good nutrition, go for short walks. Take vitamins. Take it easy.
I was still exhausted after a year. But, that had a lot to do with the marriage I was in, so, don't worry about that.

I didn't experience it to this degree but if you were a first time mom or had a long labor, yeah I can see this hapening. Giving birth is like running a marathon it drains you physically and emotionally. There is no amount of preparation that can brace you for the change in your life and your body after baby comes. Glad to see you are better now!

I did. Your body has gone through a huge physical and hormonal change. On top of that you are now taking care of a little baby and waking up in the middle of the night to feed him/her. It's totally normal.

This is a common phenomenon in primi gravida (first child) and a prolonged labour. A friend's wife who had this in the past was said to have high sugar level.

I did experience that, but not tho the degree you have described. It sounds like you lost a lot of blood, which takes some time to regenerate.

No, not that long after, just immediately afterwards. Like, after I had my baby I was just exhausted, and hungry, one of the nurses made me a pb&j sandwich!

Yeah its pretty normal. Esepcially if you had a long labor. Most new moms are anemic, from all the blood loss.
