Well, that's not all parents. I've been teaching my child what I believe and why I believe it since she was very, very small. I know plenty of people who do the same. I always listen when she has a question about something and answer her to the best of my ability and I never pretend to know something when I don't. I just tell her I don't know and I'll try to find out. Then I do and we discuss it.

I suppose some parents may have been raised this way by there parents so they contine this kind of lifestlye with there own kids. In addition they may be embarrassed discussing these sort thing with their kids and they may be just plain lazy in instilling these values in their children and ultimately not recongnising the importance of such value of you teaching your children such values until later in life.

It's just that parents today are unable to teach their children such things, since they were waited on hand and foot at the same age. Nothing to do with embarrassment, just ignorance.

Parents really need to step up to the plate to teach manners, ettiquite, values, morals, etc.

I guess if parents try to teach their child something that they aren't practicing themselves then it won't work. Children learn what they live.

I don't know. I guess they still see their teens as their little babies and don't want to tell them stuff cause they're uncomfortable. That sucks for the teen because then they pick up values and stuff from friends, teachers, T.V, and music.

I dont know, but it seriously pisses me off. I nannied for years, and it was always a pain to have to teach and reteach basic values to kids, just because their parents didnt, and wouldnt uphold them.
