You can (a) tell them that you are interested, (b) FLIRT cus then even if you are put into the dreded "friend" catagory she'll there will always be a partof her brain that connects you with flirting and dating. I would date a friend, just not a GOOD friend, like a best friend. There is a point where it would be a BIG risk to date,becasue if you don't work out it's awkward and might not be able to stay friends. If you are going to date a friend you have to be sure you know enough about them so that somewhere down the road you won't be surprised by something you cannot tolerate. If you are friends with someone and you just can't imagine going one moreday being just friends, talk to her. Friends should be able to tell each other anything and an awkward " he likes me but I don't like him" is easier to recover from than a breakup.

Do special little caring things to keep in the dating category like bring her a rose for no reason or when she has a bad day a foot massage. Yes I have dated a friend am actually with him now. No I don't think it's ever too late, you need to start having that close friendship before any type of relationship is ever started. I am a firm believer in a strong friendship is the foundation for a lasting relationship.

Personally I have only ever dated people that I was friends with first.
I've been surprised how one day I suddenly see a guy friend in a different light - sometimes knowing each other as good friends gives you an insight into that person.
And now I'm stuck, cos I don't really know how to explain when you've both noticed that there may be something more to your friendship!
Sorry, I started this answer hoping to tell you something useful. but now all I can say is that yes, you can date a friend and no, its never too late for things to develop (unless they've already got married and had 10 kids; then it gets a bit more awkward!)
Hope this helps!?

No its never too late for friendship to turn into love, I was friends with my husband before we started dating, we've been married 22 years, some friendship are worth the wait for love.

Friendship is the basis of a good relationship which may develop into more. I know that my husband and I were just friends first and we have a very good relationship in our almost 30 year marriage. I also know of another couple who were friends through college. Although she never considered him for a life partner, their friendship grew and she changed her mind. They have been married for over 20 years, I think. So, if the relationship is in God's plan and design for your life, I'm sure being "just friends" can develop into more.

Make yourself unavailable from time to time.
Don't do any girly things like lunch or shopping etc;
Dating friends is not totally out of the question but it's weird when you spend more time with them.
Back off a little, wait for the dust to settle and ask her out for a date totally out of the blue!
She'll be bowled over no matter what the outcome!

It is OK to date a friend, most women always say they'd rather do that anyway.
