You need to know when you are ovulating during your cycle. You need to know if/when you are ovulating and have sex during that time to conceive. To find out when you are ovulating, you can either:
Take your daily bbt (basil body temperature). When your
temp rises 0.5 degrees F, you're ovulating. You can find out
more info on this and chart your daily temp for free at
fertilityfriend.com.
You can buy an ovulation kit. They cost about $20 for 7 tests.
The instructions will tell you when to begin testing based on
the average length of your cycle.
You can look for other signs of ovulation, such as cervical
mucus that looks like raw egg whites, or ovulation pains in
your lower abdomen on either your right or left side.
You should have sex every other day starting about 5 days before you ovulate until at least 5 days after you ovulate. Since you don't know yet when you ovulate, I would suggest to start having sex every other day beginning day 10 or 12 this cycle until at least day 24 or 26. I would suggest trying either the ovulation kit or charting your bbt though so you know if you are ovulating because if you aren't, then your OB can give you medication, such as Clomid to help you ovulate.
Good luck.

My husband and I practice Natural Family Planning (or NFP). Although right now we are practicing in order to avoid pregnancy, since it keeps us women so in tune with our bodies' natural functioning, it can be used to time intercourse to optimize the chances of concieving.
Every woman ovulates 11-16 days before the first day of her period----every woman. The amount of time that differs from woman to woman is the amount of time before her ovulation--not after! There are other signs of fertility as well: the vaginal discharge becomes like egg white--very clear and very stretchy. The cervix opening is higher and more open (allowing sperm to enter the uterus and travel to the eggs in the woman). Also, your desire for sex increases:)
Finally, if you are interested, consider NFP. It helps you keep track of your basal body temperature (your body temperature at rest) which confirms whether or not ovulation has occurred. Links below--good for learning the method, but also names more symptoms to look for:)
Thanks for reading and God Bless!
