Especially given that the number of planets in the solar system has changed with Pluto no longer being a planet and something bigger and enarer taking its place.

The parallel between the Bible and horoscopes is not suitable given the archaeological and historical research which has proven the historicity of large parts of the Bible. Horoscopes have not been proven by objective research, in fact any experiments done have shown serious weaknesses with even the most basic assumptions.

Because the stars are not rubbish, they are real. We're dealing with the planets here, and planets are real. I've seen them. So have you. NASA's even got snapshots. Planets are so "real" in fact , that they follow real orbits, consistent enough to put into mathematical tables. Planets don't need you or me to "believe" in them, and I think it's safe to say they won't disappear, even if we reclassify ( Pluto ) them. I'm not going to try to convince you to believe in astrology, you can feel free to continue believing--or disbelieving in whatever you like, belief is not required. Astrology is a system (communication) a perfectly logical system that's often described as equal parts "science" and art. Whatever you call it , it works. Honest. So it's not about believing. It's about (communication) understanding. About drawing parallels between the movements of planets in our universe and conduction's down here--and that's not a new concept. It's called seasons, and gardeners have been working with them for years. Well, astrologers are gardeners, too. They just use all the planets, Sun and the Moon too, when they plant seeds.
If you have an open mind, and want to learn a brand knew way to describe everything you already know (communicate) in a language that will fascinate, befuddle, educate, and enlighten you. That's what astrology really is. Remember belief is not required.

For centuries ppl have looked to the stars for guidance - we believe that things surrounding us affect the way we develop (nature vs nurture) so why not the study of planets and stars.
I am not a great believer in the cattle yard version of the Horoscopes in mags and papers. However I received a very full on natal chart - my mother had one prepared when I was born and gave it to me on my 18th and it was amazing the amount of correct DETAIL.
Technically the number of planets hasn't changed just our awareness and labelling of them.

Sometimes people just need something to look to for guidance. Some people use the Bible others use there version of the Bible.
I said life is a combination of things. Common sense with spritual guidance. I hope you find the answer that you are looking to recieve.

Horoscopes in the paper I agree with you, they are rubbish. But the signs that we are given and what is expressed about them at say, yahoo's astrology website are dead on. I don't doubt horoscopes in that way for a second.

I believe and don't care who else doesn't. And I am becoming stronger in my beliefs since I see more and more metaphysical events coming true.
I think some people are more in tune with the forces that circulate the Universe. I am fortunate to be one of those people.

Mosy people have an implanted need to believe in something higher than themselves so some of them believe in god others in budah, these people believe that what has happened, what's happening and mostly what will happen depends on the planets' movements. If you ask me it's all a loadfull of crap but hey, you didn't.

theyre not always correct but the tendencies in the signs are true
Like Pisces are the ultimate romantics
Libras are stubborn and hard to deal with and dont care about romance ETC

i dont believe in horoscopes.. they are so vague that they could fit anything going on in your life and people are like "wow, it is so true"..
